Julian Lucas Wohlleber

Strategy & Design

I like giving people back what makes them who they are; in organisations, in products, and in personal growth.

Designing, to me, means shaping systems and tools so people stay at the centre of the work and repetitive tasks fall away.

I work with founders and teams on product strategy and design. From the core problem to a tested prototype, I connect user needs with business goals.

Bringing people ideas structures & knowledge together to a shared, executable vision.

Talent & company context

Empower.

Discover & Promote uniqueness.

Approach

Every team, every organisation, every idea has a unique core that lifts it from good to outstanding. Once that core is found, bridges can be built that make impossible ventures achievable. Listening to people and understanding how their individual strengths and ideas can work effectively within a larger vision is my strength and my passion.

  • Understand the core issue.
  • Read the strengths and weaknesses of team, product and company.
  • Build a strategy and goals that enable the unique core of people, product and company to spark.

Julian empowers the people around him, giving them a clear view of what truly matters instead of losing them in detail, and helping them grow into their full potential.

How I see leadership

Me from an employee’s perspective

I believe everyone carries their very own spark; one that, once found, can start a fire. Finding and strengthening that spark in others is my passion. I was deeply touched by this comic by Zhuojing Wang, reflecting this process and her personal experience of our work together at Glasshome.

His greatest strength is his ability to understand and empathize with users. He has an innate talent for delving into the minds of customers, identifying their pain points, and conceptualizing innovative solutions to address them.

Shape.

Bringing unique pieces together into a greater whole.

Approach

None of the companies I have worked with ever lacked ideas. Bringing the essence of all those ideas into one shared vision, one that joins the strengths of team and company with the needs of the customers, is the essence of successful companies. In bringing all the parts together, I see my role as mediator, workshop facilitator, and a source of strategic impulse and structure. AI can act as a key link in that collaboration.

  • Identify all pain points.
  • Choose the problem to focus on.
  • Create ideas together.
  • Find consensus.

Julian has shown great teamwork capabilities, with a positive attitude in conveying design solutions to different collaborators.

Everyone can contribute: design as guardrails of inclusion

Everyone is a Designer - design as guardrails of inclusion (framework slide)

Working with many product teams, I've learned inclusive design leads to better results. When CEOs, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and customers join the design process, products go from great to extraordinary.

Today, great isn't enough. Extraordinary drives change and leadership.

I use design to align everyone with the product and company vision from the start.

He led by example and kicked off initiatives such as integrating Lean UX and establishing knowledge-exchange groups across the development teams.

From direction to results

Create.

Accelerate perfection.
Make things concrete,
early on.

Approach

Humans are made to (co-)create. AI is a great tool to (re-)combine existing ideas and solutions; to remanufacture the status quo into new formats. Humans, with their creativity, are the perfect sparring partner to create the meaningful, the useful, that goes beyond the known. There are many ways to create. These are the main functions of creation I found myself in during my work with companies:

  • Create spaces of creativity. Challenge, tease the status quo until the results exceed the expected.
  • Materialize ideas early: build and compare prototypes.
  • Validate hypotheses with users early.
  • Design does not stop when engineering starts. Engineering is part of design and design part of engineering.

Prototyping skills are his key strengths: he progresses mock-ups' fidelity quickly and is extremely keen on user validation for refinement.

Using Agentic Experiences to bring Lean UX & Agile Development to light-speed

Using Agentic Experiences to bring Lean UX & Agile Development to light-speed (framework slide)

Design since the early 1900s has always worked with the same core principles to innovate and problem-solving.

What changes is how fast and efficient it gets, thanks to the tools we use. AX lets us explore new ideas quicker, iterate more, and create better end results. Interfaces take on new, more adaptive and personalised formats.

Sidenote: Own software

Alongside my professional work with startups and companies, I build my own software. I believe in a future of design where the boundaries between engineering and design merge, and a linear process becomes an interplay (much like a game of ping-pong). The same goes for working with artists, illustrators or journalists. When everyone works together on products, and on the future of this world, the greatest value emerges. Listening to one another and joining your own talents with the synergies of your fellow players is the greatest differentiator of our age.
